The annual Teaching & Learning Symposium provides an opportunity for the UW–Madison teaching and learning community to share best practices, celebrate accomplishments, and discuss new learning and teaching practices and theories in a forum dedicated to enriching the student learning experience.

The 2026 Teaching and Learning Symposium builds on this rich tradition by providing an opportunity to reflect on our enduring values and discuss challenges and opportunities.

This year’s theme is “Cultivating Connection. The keynote speaker is Sarah Rose Cavanagh, Ph.D., who will share research and food for thought about creating learning environments of compassionate challenge. Cavanagh’s most recent book is “Mind Over Monsters.”
